Ikuro Teshima

This lecture was given right after the Lod Airport (now Ben Gurion Airport in Israel) massacre committed by the Japanese Red Army in May, 1972. More than 40 years have passed since then, but indiscriminate terrors involving civilians are rampart all over the world. This lecture explains the cause of terrorism and suggests its solution from the biblical point of view.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
(John 1:5)

Some years ago the "God is dead" theory became very popular. It was said that religions became powerless and irrelevant to the problems of the modern society. There have been loud outcries against moral deterioration, outbursts of violence, youth's nihilism and student unrest, pollution of natural environment and of human mind, to name a few. Indeed, we are faced with series of cruel acts within and without Japan. And we cannot help wondering about the driving forces of these senseless murders such as the Red-Army lynching or the Lod Airport massacre (1972).
